Great Barrier Reef

On Thursday 3 April we were picked up outside our hotel by a Quicksilver coach and were taken to Port Douglas where we were to depart on the boat trip to Agincourt Reef on the Great Barrier Reef.
We started by going into the semi sub for a closer look at the fish and coral.

Below is a short video of the coral.

Then my sister and the kids went snorkelling.

While I did a helmet dive.

You can see the video of the helmet dive below

Then it was time for lunch afterwards we went into the underwater observatory

After a fabulous day on the reef the boat took us back to Port Douglas where the coach was waiting to take us back to our hotel.

We ended the evening by having a meal at Kings On McLeod, the restaurant which is attached to the hotel.

To Cairns

On Wednesday 2 April we caught a taxi to South Brisbane station and then the Airtrain to the airport. Unfortunately I mistimed the journey and we arrived 10 minutes after the gate had closed. We had to pay an extra $200 (£91.94) to book a seat on another flight. A few hours later we caught the Virgin Blue flight to Cairns.
We got a taxi at Cairns Airport and rode the fairly short distance to our hotel, the Cairns Holiday Lodge.

After we had settled in we headed out to look for something to eat and had dinner at the Cock And Bull pub.
